Rhinoplasty performed at our Kansas City, Missouri, plastic surgery center refines the shape of the nose in a number of different ways – straightening, removing bumps, reshaping the tip, or reducing projection. Rhinoplasty can make a nose larger or smaller, refine the shape of the bridge, tip, or nostrils, and correct for crookedness, injuries, and breathing abnormalities that arise due to problems with the internal structures of the nose. Having rhinoplasty can increase your confidence and improve the balance and proportion of your face. For more information about rhinoplasty, please contact our Kansas City, Missouri, plastic surgery practice today.
Facelift performed in our Kansas City, Missouri, cosmetic surgery center, is a surgical procedure designed to tighten the lower face and neck. Sun exposure, weight fluctuation, and the natural aging process make skin loosen and sag, resulting in wrinkles and jowls. The muscles on the neck can slacken, too, causing you to look years older than your real age. Facelift smoothes wrinkles and folds to create a new youthful appearance. Blepharoplasty is routinely performed in our Kansas City, Missouri, cosmetic surgery center. Blepharoplasty, also known as an eyelid lift, is surgery performed around the eye area that results in a more youthful looking, attractive appearance. If you have droopy eyelids, puffiness directly below your eyes, or fine, papery wrinkles around your eyes, talk to us about blepharoplasty, available in Kansas City at Genesis Plastic Surgery.
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a popular choice in Kansas City, Missouri, for softening facial lines and folds due to hyper contraction of underlying muscles. BOTOX® Cosmetic injections soften the frown lines between the eyebrows and smooth out the crow’s feet at the corners of the eyes. A purified chemical that is injected into the skin in order to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, BOTOX® Cosmetic can improve your appearance quickly, safely, and easily. To learn more about BOTOX® Cosmetic, please contact our Kansas City, Missouri, practice today.
RESTYLANE®, available in Kansas City, Missouri at Genesis Plastic Surgery, is a revolutionary solution to thin lips and wrinkles. Primarily used for lip enhancement and wrinkle correction, RESTYLANE® plumps up lips while gently smoothing away fine lines around the lips and mouth. RESTYLANE® is completely biodegradable and contains no animal proteins, so it is natural and considered to be an extremely safe enhancement technique. RESTYLANE® treatments performed in our Kansas City, Missouri, office, take about 30 minutes and can be repeated as necessary, typically every six to nine months. If the skin under your chin or on your neck has begun to slacken or sag, you might be a good candidate for a neck lift. Neck lift, performed at our Kansas City, Missouri, cosmetic surgery center, is a surgical method of removing excess fat and surplus skin from the neck and chin areas, and carefully lifting and tightening the remaining skin. This procedure can reduce or eliminate the undesirable “turkey neck” look, and leaves your skin taught and toned.
Chin implants, prosthetic forms surgically placed in the chin, can improve the contour of the face and give more definition to its middle and lower portions, bringing facial features into better proportion, harmony, and balance. A strong chin can build your confidence and self-esteem.
At Genesis Plastic Surgery in Kansas City, Missouri, chin implant is often combined with rhinoplasty to bring an overall balance to the face. Dr. Thompson will help you decide if a chin implant or rhinoplasty procedure is right for you. For more information about chin implant or rhinoplasty, please contact our Kansas City, Missouri, practice today!
Laser peels are alternatives offered at our Kansas City, Missouri, cosmetic surgery practice to sanding down the skin. Laser peels remove fine wrinkles and superficial pigmentation, and smooth away scars. Deep laser peels moderately tighten the skin. Most superficial laser peels (micro peels) have no or minimal down time and the procedure is conveniently performed in our Kansas City, Missouri, plastic surgery facility. During a laser peel, laser light is used to resurface facial skin. A laser peel treatment can improve pigmentation problems due to sun exposure, acne blemishes, and uneven skin tone. After treatment, skin is tightened and the appearance of wrinkles and other unwanted blemishes are reduced or eliminated.
When deep lines are present, laser peel may be combined with BOTOX® Cosmetic and RESTYLANE®. For more information about laser peel, BOTOX® Cosmetic and RESTYLANE® in Kansas City, Missouri, please contact our practice.
We are pleased to offer the Kansas City community the recently FDA approved, long lasting soft tissue augmentation Radiesse™. This is an injectable filler used to reduce facial wrinkles and folds. Radiesse™ is frequently used to fill the nasolabial and marionette folds - the lines that run from the nose to the corners of the mouth and then down toward the chin - so that your face looks younger. Radiesse™ is also used to contour facial areas of cheeks and chin.
Skin laxity that develops with aging can be improved with Thermage®, also known as Thermacool™; a procedure which is relatively new to Kansas City. Thermage® treatment is useful for a modest tightening and firming of the skin without surgery. It is not meant to replace face lift surgery because the results are not as long lasting or as dramatic. If you don't want the down time of surgery but still want a tighter, firmer, less wrinkled looking face, Thermage® may be the best option.
Thermage® uses safe radio frequency energy to heat the deeper layers of the skin without heating the top layer. This uniform heating of the deep layer of the skin causes immediate contraction of collagen followed by gradual collagen formation, which lifts the skin over the next two to six months resulting in a more youthful appearance.
The procedure takes from a few minutes for spot treatments to over an hour for full face and neck treatment. There is some mild discomfort with the procedure, which is adjusted to each person's tolerance. After the procedure there is some minimal swelling and redness which fades over a few hours. Make-up may be applied immediately after the treatment. You will be given an oral pain killer prior to treatment. For most patients the tightening and firming improves gradually over two to six months, although some patients see an earlier response. These results may last for up to two years.
A single treatment has produced noticeable results in a significant number of patients, however, the number and frequency of your treatments is tailored to meet your skin condition. Thermage® is FDA approved for use on the face and has been reported to be successful when used on the abdomen, breast, arms and legs.
Light chemical peels, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments, micro laser peels, and skin care products by Skinceuticals are some of the many skin care treatments we offer at our Kansas City, Missouri, plastic surgery practice to help reduce unwanted lines and wrinkles. Sun exposure, environmental pollutants, stress, and the natural aging process all take their toll on your skin. Keep it fresh and healthy looking with our skin care products and techniques. Often combined with surgical procedures such as facelift, and non-surgical procedures such as BOTOX® Cosmetic or RESTYLANE®, these skin care solutions can give you a younger, more attractive appearance. In Kansas City, Missouri, please contact us today for more information.
Fat atrophy of the face inevitably develops as we age. It causes laxity of the skin, folds around the mouth, thinning lips, hollowness around the eyes and cheeks, and an overall tired look. Adding volume and firmness to the face significantly improves these signs of aging. It is particularly useful to enhance lip volume and treat facial folds.
Sculptra®, a facial volumizer, is now available at Genesis Plastic Surgery in Kansas City, Missouri. Sculptra® is an injectable synthetic form of poly-l-lactic acid, a compound naturally present in the body. There have been no reported allergic reactions or adverse systemic effects since its use began in 2004.
Sculptra®, tiny micro beads of poly-l-lactic acid, is injected by a small needle into the deep layers of the skin. Around these micro beads the body forms fibroblasts which produce new collagen. New collagen is produced slowly over a period of four to six weeks. Three to four injection sessions may be required to achieve desired results.
Sculptra® does not dissolve over a period of months as with other facial fillers such as RESTYLANE®. Long term effects have lasted as long as this product has been on the market, two years, and may go beyond that.
Sculptra® is not a substitute for surgical correction but can delay the need or even enhance the results of facial surgery.
We are pleased to introduce the thread lift procedure at our Kansan City, Missouri, practice. The thread lift, using barbed Contour Threads™, has a niche for facial rejuvenation. It provides some subtle improvement for sagging facial appearance with very limited scarring, post-procedure healing, and risk.
This improvement in facial appearance is more dramatic than seen with Thermage®, but is not the equivalent of a facelift. A thread lift has only 20 to 30 percent of the effect a typical facelift provides. These non-absorbable clear sutures can be used to lift a low eyebrow position, raise cheeks and jowls, and tighten loose neck tissue. They are best suited for those in their thirties to fifties with early signs of aging.
For extensive changes in the facial appearance of older individuals with more advanced signs of age, a surgical facelift is required. The thread lift can be performed under a local anesthetic or a general anesthetic. Bruising and swelling following a thread lift usually lasts about five to seven days. The thread lift procedure is frequently combined with other procedures such as blepharoplasty, liposuction, and laser procedures.
Thread lifts can be done years after a regular facelift for touch-up tightening in small areas of the face. This extends the effect of the surgical lift by several years.
Patients in their thirties to fifties can slow the effects of aging, regain a younger looking face, and delay the need for a facelift by treating the skin from the inside out. This is done by combining several modalities such as:
Thermage® to build new collagen that tightens and firms the face.
Thread lifts for tightening problem areas around the eyes, jowls, cheeks and neck.
BOTOX® Cosmetic and facial fillers for lines and facial fullness.
Laser and IPL to smooth out the complexion.
Use good skin care products, antioxidants, sunblocks, and retinoic acid to prevent new damage to the skin.
